Honoring Veterans Through Nature's Healing Touch

The Byington Family Foundation is a nonprofit retreat and support center dedicated to serving veterans at no cost. Founded in Vermontville, Michigan, we provide safe spaces where veterans can reconnect with themselves, find camaraderie among peers, and access resources when they need them most.

Our Purpose

Is to provide healing and support to veterans by offering unique opportunities. Through nature-based experiences, we aim to empower veterans to reconnect with themselves, their peers and the world around them. Our program strives to foster resilience, mental well-being, and a sense of community, helping veterans on their journey to recovery and a fulfilling life beyond service.

The founders behind Byington Family Foundation are three of Philip Byington’s Daughters, Sandra Mick, Jennifer Hibdon and Penny Byington. The sisters saw that service members had a need. This was in their personal experiences as well as in the ones they loved around them.

Penny is a veteran as well as a military wife and mother. Her son, Alex was a Iraq combat veteran who would have benefited by what we are trying to build.

Sandra is married to a veteran and has a veteran son.

Jennifer is a veteran herself.
